FAQ, Rules, & The Thunderbolt Code
The FAQ, Rules, and Thunderbolt Code The FAQ ![]() What is 83Division.com? The "[83rd]Division" and "Thunderbolts" are used interchangeably. We're an online community of like-minded, mature PC gamers. The name stems from the World War II Infantry division of the same name that was known for their fighting ability and camaraderie. What is the purpose of this group? To have fun playing computer games together and make friends while doing so. Are you a "clan"? No, we are a community. "What's the difference" you ask? Clans tend to come and go but this is a community that lasts. We also do not discriminate based on game-playing ability. Anyone who has demonstrated that they can abide by our rules can play here and make this their online gaming home. How long has the [83rd] been around? Thanks to strong leadership and commitment on the part of [83rd] Council, the Division has been gaming together since March of 2002. Who is the [83rd] Council? Not unlike a corporation's board of directors, The Council (a.k.a. "HQ" or "Headquarters"; "HQ" is used interchangeably with "Council") is a small group of individuals composed of [83rd] members of varying age, experience, and membership duration. The [83rd] Council is charged with operating and maintaining the [83rd] game servers, voice server, and website. All recruiting and discipline is performed by or delegated by the Council. What games does the [83rd] host? We have generally hosted military-inspired games and all have been first-person shooters to date. Game servers hosted here (current and past):
Does the [83rd] play competitively? Not primarily. When there is enough interest in the community, the Thunderbolts have been known to fight in tournaments and clan vs. clan scrimmages. Who is allowed to join the [83rd] and become a Thunderbolt? Anyone who wishes to and has demonstrated they can abide by our rules and show a level of maturity deemed necessary by the [83rd] Council (some age restrictions apply). All applicants and members can not be associated with any other gaming group that plays games hosted by the [83rd]. For example, if the [83rd] does not host an Insurgency game server an applicant or member may associate with a group that does. Anyone who abides by the community and forum rules listed below may register on the forums as a "Community Member." How do I join? There are no tryouts or other virtual hoops to jump through. Add our servers to your favorites, chat with us on our voice server and come back regularly. Register in the forums and introduce yourself in the Recruiting Center forum Above all, show you that you respect our rules, do not be a nuisance, and do what you're asked by the moderators. Once you've proven to the regulars and mods that you're a decent human being, you'll be allowed to wear the [83rd] tags to show your support for the community. Does it cost money to join? It does not cost any money to join the [83rd]. What we ask is that you're as active in the community as you can be (within reason) and exemplify the Thunderbolt Code. That being said, without financial support from its members the [83rd] would not exist. Small, regular cash donations are encouraged to help cover operating costs for the game servers, voice server, website hosting, and forums. If you financially support the [83rd] you gain Supporter status and become eligible to be recruited as a game server moderator. You also have access to private server slots not available to the public. Above all, you'll have that warm fuzzy feeling inside knowing that you're helping keep the community run strongly. The Rules ![]() What exactly are the rules?
